MONTESSORIANS ON THE MARCH: Shaping Young Citizens Through CIvic and Cultural Participation

Once again, the Green and Yellow Montessorians of the Eastern Visayas International Montessori School have shown that education goes beyond the walls of a classroom. This holds as they marched the streets of Borongan City during the recently held Civic and Military Parade. Their presence was more than just a demonstration of school spirit. Rather, it was more of a live demonstration of the Montessori philosophy that emphasizes holistic development, community participation, and civic responsibility.
Dr. Maria Montessori believed that education was not limited to preparing children well for their subjects but rather to encourage them to become aware and active participants in the life of the community. During such civic occasions, each Montessorian learned to collaborate, respect traditions, and love their communities.
In EVIMS, we believe that whenever the mind and the heart become engaged in the educational process, we not only produce intellectually competent students but also develop socially aware and culturally grounded learners.
Such formative experiences will underscore the students’ specific roles as citizens, as well as instill in them the importance of sharing in the common responsibility through civic participation. #
